As part of the Spirax Group’s global sustainability plan “One Planet” and its Net Zero initiative, Spirax Sarco Argentina has signed its first 10-year renewable energy acquisition agreement with the Argentine company 360Energy.
360Energy has more than 200 MW of installed capacity in its solar parks located in the Cuyo and Northwest regions of Argentina, areas with the highest solar radiation in the country. This allows the company to achieve highly efficient renewable energy generation, which will supply Spirax Sarco over the next 10 years, avoiding the emission of more than 5,000 tons of CO2e into the atmosphere.
With the signing of this PPA with 360Energy, Spirax Sarco Argentina ensures that more than 85% of the electricity used for the daily operation of its Don Torcuato plant will come from renewable energy sources until 2034.
Federico Sbarbi Osuna, CEO of 360Energy, stated: “This type of strategic alliance allows us to accelerate the energy transition while offering a highly competitive and sustainable supply solution. We are proud of this agreement and will continue working to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy matrix of various industrial sectors.”
Meanwhile, Ariel Eduardo Bordo, General Manager – Productive Sector at Spirax Sarco Argentina, said: “At Spirax Sarco, we understand that the world’s challenges are global and complex. We work to design a more efficient, safe, and sustainable world. We are deeply integrated into the communities where we operate, and our technologies play a crucial role in the critical industrial processes of our clients. This entails the responsibility to preserve and protect natural resources and to support people and the planet by operating responsibly ourselves. Incorporating sustainability criteria into the management of our industrial plants is part of our One Planet strategy. This alliance with 360Energy allows us to move closer to our goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in our operations by 2030 (Scope 1 and 2). I am immensely proud of this progress in such an important challenge".
